Pirates at Cubs Game to Benefit Lakeview Pantry
Catch a Cubs game and feed hope in Chicago communities! On Saturday, April 23, Lakeview Pantry is excited to invite our community to a Chicago Cubs-Pittsburgh Pirates game at 1:20 p.m. to cheer on our good friends and longtime supporters, the Chicago Cubs. Lakeview Pantry hires first program expansion manager to grow impact in Chicago
Lakeview Pantry is thrilled to announce the hiring of Natia Barnett, the organization’s first program expansion manager. The new position is designed to help build new partnerships with trusted organizations in communities in Chicago’s South and West Sides that have endured decades of inequitable access to food and other resources.
2020-2021 Annual Report Published
During the past two years, Lakeview Pantry responded to a historic need for food assistance and social services that was unlike any other time in our 50-year existence. Put simply, we could not have risen to the challenge without the outpouring of support from our donors, volunteers and community partners.We are overwhelmed with gratitude. Thank you for your unflagging compassion and generosity.

IMPORTANT: No food distribution 12/23 and more service changes
To keep our volunteers, staff, and community healthy and safe, we’ve had to make some difficult decisions due to the recent spike in COVID cases. To reduce the risk of transmission before the holidays, we will not be distributing food on Thursday, Dec. 23.
Please read here for more details, as well as a reminder about our upcoming holiday closures. Social services, such as mental wellness counseling, and job and housing assistance, are available virtually. Drop-in social services will resume Jan. 4.

The Vincent Babiarz Memorial Toy Drive, benefiting Lakeview Pantry, honors all the qualities that Vincent embodied. He had a sixth sense for finding those in need and was always ready with a hug, a smile or a kind word. Thank you for helping keep Vincent’s legacy alive through the annual Toy Drive!
Lakeview Pantry Requiring COVID-19 Vaccine for All Volunteers
Beginning November 1, Lakeview Pantry will require all new and existing volunteers to be vaccinated against COVID-19. We are implementing this policy to help ensure the safety of the people we serve, as well as our volunteers and staff, and to minimize the pandemic’s impact on our essential operations.

Saint Mary’s Pop-Up Pantry to End on Sunday, Oct. 24
We’ve been so fortunate to partner with Saint Mary of the Lake Roman Catholic Church to provide space for their pop-up pantries on Sundays. Unfortunately, the last pop-up will be on Sunday, Oct. 24. We look forward to welcoming you during our other operating hours at our Sheridan Market!
Gardening with a Cause
Lakeview Pantry, a nonprofit focused on supporting Chicago neighbors with overcoming hunger, improving mental wellness, and achieving life goals, has become one of 50 nonprofits around the country to launch a mobile app that directs home and community gardeners to donate a portion of their fresh grown produce to support local hunger relief efforts.
Mental Wellness Group: “Queer in the Time of COVID-19”
Lakeview Pantry is excited to start a new process group called Queer in the Time of COVID for individuals who are a part of the LGBTQIA+ community to discuss their experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic and highlight things that still feel unheard or unseen. This group will prioritize Black, Indigenous, and other clients of color in its admittance.

Summer Hours at Lakeview Pantry
Every Friday from July 9 to September 3, all Lakeview Pantry locations will be closed by 2pm. Our goal is to introduce this benefit so that our staff can recharge and enjoy their summer after a particularly challenging year.
