Lakeview Pantry is Named Winner of 17th Annual Chicago Innovation Awards!
Lakeview Pantry has been named one of the winners of the 17th annual Chicago Innovation Awards in the Neighborhood category.
The winners were announced at an event held at Chicago’s Harris Theater on Monday, October 29, with nearly 1500 business and civic leaders, and supporters of innovation in attendance. The Chicago Innovation Awards, celebrating its 17th year, is the Chicago region’s foremost recognition of the most innovative new products or services brought to market each year.
For almost 50 years, Lakeview Pantry has provided nutritious food and social services to low-income residents on the North Side where 1 in 9 people struggle with hunger. In 2016, Lakeview Pantry drastically changed the landscape of hunger relief in the city of Chicago with its new 7,500-square-foot space designed to not only address the serious hunger problem in the city, but to also bring dignity to those who suffered the shame of poverty. The building at 3945 N. Sheridan serves as a replicable model for a better experience of receiving food assistance and social services. Every aspect of the Sheridan building combats the stigma associated with receiving charity, from its colorful aesthetics to its streamlined personal shopping experience.
