Taneka Taylor, MSW
Social Worker
Taneka holds a master’s degree in social work with a concentration in mental health from Loyola University Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Western Illinois University. Prior to joining Lakeview Pantry in January 2019 as a master’s level social work intern, Taneka worked with young adults and seniors coping with severe and persistent mental illness, with a focus on treating depression and anxiety. Taneka provided therapeutic interventions via psychotherapy in individual and group settings in various community mental health centers and rehabilitation facilities, as well as a master’s level internship at Truman College’s Wellness Center.
Taneka prioritizes meeting a client where they are by listening to their story and supporting their right to self-determination. Taneka encourages clients to set their therapeutic goals through collaborative discussion, and utilizes a strength-based perspective to treat her clients with respect and dignity. Her specific areas of interest include crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, and spirituality.
