Jami Josefson, MD, MS

Director

Jami is a pediatric endocrinologist at the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. She treats children across the Chicago area with hormone disorders including diabetes, thyroid, growth, adrenal gland and puberty disorders. Jami is on the faculty at Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine and mentor students, fellows, and junior faculty. In addition to her clinical work, Jami researches the developmental origins of childhood obesity. She studies pregnancy metabolism and outcomes in children with a goal of preventing obesity and type 2 diabetes.

Jami is passionate about the importance of a healthy lifestyle and teaching children to move their bodies with physical activity and make healthy food choices. Families cooking and eating meals together nourishes the body and the soul. Thus she is a strong advocate of ending food insecurity in our community.

Jami’s family lives in Lakeview and they enjoy volunteering at Nourishing Hope as a family. During the first months of the pandemic, they especially enjoyed volunteering at Wrigley Field to pack food boxes. Jami’s husband Avi volunteers by driving the food pick-up and delivery van. She is honored to be a part of the Nourishing Hope board.
