For tens of millions of people in America, a daily meal isn’t a choice between different dishes. It’s a choice between food and other crucial needs—like medicine, rent, or childcare.

We invite you to join Nourishing Hope this September for Hunger Action Month, a month where people across the country stand together with the Feeding America network to fight hunger. It’s a month to spread the word and take action on the hunger crisis—and dedicate ourselves to a solution. Every day during the month of September, there’s something you can do to take action with us! Download our calendar and find more ideas on how to get involved below.

Wear Orange

Orange is the color of hunger awareness! When you join us to volunteer at one of our sites or drop off donations, remember to wear orange to raise awareness for the 1 in 6 people in Chicago facing food insecurity. (Plus, keep the orange going on Hunger Action Day: Friday, Sept. 17!)

Go the Extra Mile

We’re so grateful for your support this month! To go the extra mile, consider starting a virtual food drive to fundraise among coworkers, friends and family. Visit give.lakeviewpantry.org/virtualfooddrive to launch your personal fundraising page today to share why you’re passionate about ending hunger and connecting our neighbors with nutritious food! For more information about fundraising for us, reach out to [email protected].

Get Social

Finally, be sure to snap a photo of yourself (or a friend!) taking action or simply wearing orange and tag us on social media @LakeviewPantry! Use the hashtag #HungerActionMonth and we’ll share our favorites.
