Community Involvement Update: Special Donation and Gifts
A woman called the West site and wondered if there has been a mistake… She said that in addition to her commonly allotted home delivery groceries, she was delivered two blankets (and slippers) and was worried that she got one blanket too many. She felt bad if she got an additional blanket that was intended for someone else. I took a liberty and told her that we had plenty of blankets and that they were both for her and I added, “We wanted to make sure you had one in case the other one was in the wash, winter is coming and you are going to need them both.” She was just so thankful for such a simple thin blanket.
At the pantry, we were lucky enough to have recently received dozens of blankets, and just in time for the fast approaching winter. Through the generosity of United Airlines, The Rotary Club of Chicago O’Hare was able to provide a donation of several high-need items. The Rotary Club gave us blankets, long socks, slippers, as well as hygiene kits including necessities like toothbrushes and lotion.
The picture features a few of these items atop the SEVEN BOXES all containing blankets.
Lakeview Pantry would like to thank both United Airlines and The Rotary Club of Chicago O’Hare and stress just how vital these items are to our clients right now.
