Lakeview Pantry Mission, Vision and Strategic Plan
Our mission is to eliminate hunger in our community by: providing food to fill the basic need of hungry people; increasing the independence of our clients through self-help initiatives and other innovative programs; and raising awareness of hunger and poverty and working towards solutions to eliminate them.
Our vision is to be a stable presence in the communities we serve, and to be a model of compassionate, effective, and collaborative service delivery.
Our ultimate goal is the eradication of hunger and poverty in our communities.
Lakeview Pantry will build upon our Food Distribution excellence.
Lakeview Pantry will achieve Client Services excellence.
Lakeview Pantry will Educate ourselves, community leaders, and the community regarding poverty and hunger, and we will Advocate for our clients.
Lakeview Pantry will be a leader in Mentoring other food pantries and anti-poverty organizations.
Lakeview Pantry will build capacity and strengthen our ability to carry out our mission.
We provide on-site food distribution, deliver food to home-bound clients, distribute free clothing and have a case management program that helps clients connect with other services they need to address the causes of food insecurity.
Our boundaries extend from the lake west to Damen and from Fullerton to Irving Park to the north.
We see clients of every race, religion, age and background. In fact, clients have only two shared characteristics: they are poor (average income is less than $750 per month) and they have nowhere else to turn. Clients can visit the Pantry once per month and will walk out with enough food to last two weeks – enough to make their lives a little less of a struggle.
Lakeview Pantry is one of few pantries in Chicago to offer food distribution to homeless people. We distribute specially packaged foods that don’t require refrigeration and can be opened without can openers to our homeless clients.
